Elvis D Después de que Roger Corman creada una de sus películas más conocidas en el mundo de la serie B, debió ser una sorpresa para él que la película lograra traspasar sus fronteras hasta llegar al mundo de los musicales de Broadway. La trama de la película original fue reescrita nuevamente para una obra musical y tras ello, el director Frank Oz no dudo en llevar la versión musical a la gran pantalla. Esta versión de Little Shop Of Horrors es una delirante comedia con actuaciones exageradas que encajan con el humor caricaturesco de la película. Se trata de una muy buena actualización de la versión de Corman con mucho más humor y mejor producción. Las canciones son en su mayoría excelentes dándole a esta película un aire de Disney con toda la comedia sumada. El elenco es liderado por el torpe y encantador Rick Moranis, quien ya se ha ganado el cariño de muchos por su divertida participación en Ghostbusters. No hay que olvidar la participación de Steve Martin como un dentista bastante alocado con una canción inolvidable. También se suma la aparición de Bill Murray haciendo el mismo cameo que hizo Jack Nicholson en la película original. El diseño de Audrey II es indiscutiblemente superior a la versión de Corman. La planta está muy bien trabajada y luce bastante hiperrealista a pesar de ser un animatronico. El humor de este personaje predomina bastante en la película y se vuelve memorable. Frank Oz ha logrado hacer una de las mejores recreaciones que se han hecho de una película y su versión de Little Shop Of Horrors se vuelve entrañable por su música y disparatada comedia. Even the choice of re-adaptation of the 1960 cult classic is a brilliant idea unto itself due to the potential of the story and the characters for a musical format. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/17/24 Full Review Audience Member I remember watching this a while back and had a good time A remake of Roger Corman's B-movie based on the stage musical directed by the late Frank Oz In the tradition of 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' the film has a total of 14 musical numbers, state-of-the-art puppetry, and a great sense of fun and energy A lovable cast too from Rick Moranis to Ellen Greene to Steve Martin to the late John Candy to Bill Murray Seymour is a nerdy employee in a flower shop in the city, he has his boss Mushnik who took him in as an orphan and co-worker Audrey Audrey is the eye of his affection but she's dating an abusive dentist Orin Business has been dismal selling flowers but all that changes when Seymour comes across an unusual plant resembling a Venus flytrap Turns out this floral abnormality appeared during a solar eclipse from outer space it finally attracts customers boosting their sales but Seymour then discovers it has a thirst for blood but also human beings Now Seymour is stuck trying to feed this hungry plant against his better judgment The 3 main singers who narrate | love a lot; they have so much zest with each song, wardrobe choice, and also playing side characters Moranis is all kinds of dweeby but likable torn between the love of his life and satisfying this hungry plant Greene is the perfect amount of lovely and shy but also sticks out the most with her fashionable outfits selling flowers Martin is just a treat playing a slimy dentist enjoying the pain he inflicts on his patients while also pushing his girlfriend around But the hungry plant is my favorite character with a deep voice and lively craving for humans The puppeteer work is one of the best given it took nearly 30 operators to bring to life An enjoyably fun experience from start to finish Funny and catchy in equal measure with great music and amazing effects with lovable actors Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/20/23 Full Review Lou T Every once in a while, a film comes around that is so wacky and charming, that it almost feels like a fever dream. Little Shop of Horrors is exactly that, in all the finest ways. Being a musical/horror/comedy, this is a film unlike anything else. The most important part of any musical would be the songs and this one hits the mark, with plenty of catchy bops and truly well done performances to weave the story around. The cast fill their roles with so much charm, even the 'villains' will leave you waiting for them to pop up on screen. Rather fast paced, it sometimes leaves you wishing they would linger on a plot point and not move on so quickly, as there are some moments that I feel could have benefited from some extra time. Though the ending is fine, I can't help, but wish they stuck to the original ending and really gave us something to talk about. Altogether, you won't leave this film disappointed and you just might find a new cult love.
