Find a Grave’s New Help Center - Find a Grave News (2024)

June 3, 2021January 19, 2023 Find a Grave

We recently traded in our FAQ page for a new help center that we hope will make it easier for you to find what you are looking for. You should be able to find all your favorite information from the old FAQs and a lot of new information too.

You’ll find a “Help” link at the bottom of the site.

On the main page of the help center you can enter key words into the search to find something specific like, “photo volunteer.” You’ll also find a list of common questions and categories that you can browse through.

Help articles often include images to illustrate their points or links to related help articles that may add more details.

At the bottom of each article you can let us know if the information was helpful or not or, if the help center isn’t helping you can use the “Contact Us” button at the bottom of the page to get more help.

When you are in the help center you can click on the Find a Grave Support logo in the top left of the page to go back to the help homepage or the “Find a Grave” link to the right of that logo to go to the main Find a Grave homepage.

    • The date modified is updated whenever anything is added or updated on a memorial, either by the manager or by someone else. Occasionally we will make a change in the database that updates that date, but we didn’t do anything over this weekend. We did a quick check on a few memorials you manage and it looks like someone has added GPS coordinates to some of those, so that may explain it.

  2. I have been on Find A Grave for several years first starting in northern California. I have volunteered to find some grave stones in that area and have been receiving requests for that area. I now live in Idaho. How do I change my location to where I’m currently residing?

    • Thanks for all your work! You can update the home location for your photo volunteering in the Photo Volunteer section of the Account page. Here’s a link, https://www.findagrave.com/user/account/photo-volunteer but you can also get there by placing your mouse over your profile image in the upper right corner of the page and clicking on Account from the dropdown then clicking on Photo Volunteer in the left column of that page.

  4. I’ve had to do this myself – contact the cemetery and get as much information as you can, including a photo of the headstone if they’ll do that (doubtful). Then post the information on here.

    • Sorry to hear about your email. If you go to the Account page (place the cursor over your member name or photo in the top right of the page and click “Account” from the drop down) then click Email in the left column of the account page, you can change your email address there. Here’s a link to that page, https://www.findagrave.com/user/account/email If that doesn’t work for you you can contact the support team (go to the “Contact” page (https://www.findagrave.com/contact and choose the “Account question or Support Request” option on the left). Hope that helps.

    • We don’t have a separate section for military memorials. It looks like the details of his service are there in the bio section of the memorial which is a great place to post them.
